What are learner records?
A self reported record by a student, in which he or she describes specific learning experiences, activities, responses and skills acquired. Students at Daybreak compile a personal logbook, journal, diary, daily diary which will cover specific aspects of the student’s experience. For example keeping a diary of events and work undertaken in the nursing home or health facility.
What is a project?
A project is a substantial individual or group response to a brief given by the Director of Training at Daybreak School. Guidelines will be given to how the project should be done.
Projects will usually involve research requiring individual or group investigation of a topic. The process, that is how the project is designed and done. Projects will take place over a period of time. The project will enable the student to demonstrate planning, production, presentation of skills, team-working and show an ability to draw conclusions about the work undertaken.
Do I have to do one?
Yes. For example the module Care of the Older Person the Project accounts for 40% of the student’s work
How do I demonstrate my skills when I do not work in a nursing home or healthcare facility?
We will practice skills here in Daybreak School. There will be opportunity for practice of skills relevant to the module the student. The skills theory will be included in Tutorials at Daybreak.
Who is my assessor and what does he do?
Your assessor is the Director of Training at Daybreak School. You will also have an external Verifier who will be called upon if you are doing a FETAC module.
